Contributing Sponsors

For the first 22 years of this research program, we have been indebted to the firm of Telesurveys Research Associates for training the interviewers and overseeing the professional quality of the sampling procedures and data collection. Beginning in 2004, those responsibilities have been assumed by the Center for Public Policy at the University of Houston. Thanks are also due to the undergraduate students in Sociology 436, who help each year to design the questionnaire and to complete a portion of the interviews. We are grateful as well to the Rice University administration for its continuing support and to our colleagues both in Houston and beyond who are collaborating in the analyses of the survey data.

Underwritten from 1983 through 1995 by the Houston Post, this research was supported from 1996 until 1999 by the Houston Chronicle, with generous additional contributions from SBC, Fiesta Mart, and KTMD-TV Channel 48. Beginning in 2000, both the annual survey and the additional “oversample” interviews in Houston’s ethnic communities are being funded by a growing consortium of contributing sponsors.

Listed here, with profound gratitude, are the organizations and individuals whose vision and generosity have made this research possible:
